Photo Squad Program
This past month, our talented Grade 5 students participated in the Photo Squad program, where they explored the art of photography. They learned how to use a 35mm camera and experimented with various techniques, enhancing their skills and creativity.
To showcase their work, students created slideshows featuring their stunning photographs, which were displayed at a special gallery event in our school library. Classes toured the gallery, appreciating the framed images and the stories behind the students’ work.
We are incredibly proud of our Grade 5 Photo Squad for their dedication and creativity. Their efforts have inspired our school community to see the beauty in photography, and we look forward to more artistic endeavors in the future! Thank you to everyone who supported this successful event!

MTYP Performance
On April 7th, all students K-5 had the opportunity to view a special performance by Manitoba Theatre for Young People live in our gymnasium. The MTYP put on two performances of "Blue Beads and Blueberries" for our students.
Blue Beads and Blueberries: "When a father asks his daughters how much they love him, he feels slighted by the response of his youngest and sends her away. This sets her off on an adventure of self-discovery, one brimming with beaded earrings, woven sashes, and traditional jigs. Blue Beads and Blueberries transforms an ancient fairy tale into a celebration of Métis culture."

Sock Hop for World Down Syndrome Day
Our 2nd annual sock hop in recognition of World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) occurred before spring break! Students wore colourful, mismatched socks for WDSD to help raise awareness about Down Syndrome. The 21st day of March (the 3rd month of the year) was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome.
A big thank you goes out to All Around Sound for supplying the lights for our sock hop again this year

Upcoming Changes to the Recess Period
Following the Spring Break, we will be making changes to our recess periods and supervision in order to improve supervision and simplify our procedures. The biggest change for our students will be having all students eating their snack or lunch and going outside at the same time. This will allow us to increase the time students have for activity and increase the number of supervisors in the outdoor area. Additionally, students will be assigned to an area of the playground with grade K-2 in one section and grade 3-5 in another section. Within each section students will have access to soccer field(s), playground structure, hardtop, and swings.
Skating Program Returns
During February, were we able to bring back our skating program. Students had the opportunity to take part in skating sessions at the Beausejour Sportsplex. This event requires a lot of support to be successful and we would like to thank all of the parents and community members that volunteered their time to make this event a success. It is our hope that this once again becomes an annual event that students can look forward to. Visit our school website to see images from the event.
